Fresh from accepting a gong from the Spectator at its Parliamentarian of the Year awards (not that he is really, being a member of Alan Sugar's House of Lords) Peter (Lord) Mandelson was at it again as guest of honour at the estimable British Journalism Review's anniversary dinner. This was at the same time as the Daily Mail was getting itself into a lather about Mandy attending a pheasant shoot with the odious Nat Rothschild, although Mandy didn't take a gun himself. Neither did Cherie Blair, who was also there for some strange reason. As ever with Mandy you've contradiction piled on paradox with a splash of irony on top. But Mandelson as the hacks' best friend really is pushing it a bit.
