Design firm Wolff Olins says that the next wave of top global brands will come from so-called emerging markets and names five: Colombian coffee chain Juan Valdez Cafe, Saudi dairy and fruit juice brand Almarai, Lebanese posh chocolate chain Patchi (good name that), ChangYu, the biggest Chinese wine producer and Indian spirits firm United Spirits which owns Whyte & Mackay whisky. Wolff's 'research' was carried out for the Financial Times but it seems to be getting the cold-shoulder from readers. One from Budapest says it's just 'marketing pap' designed to get Wolff more clients. Another rubbishes the design form, saying it's the company that came up with a logo best described as "Lisa Simpson engaged in an unspeakable act?" What was that? The logo I mean. OK, and the act. Could have been BT I suppose. Anyone know?

Next top brands or a business wheeze?
