It's still hard to believe that the eight top Grand Prix teams are to break away from Formula One in a row over Max Mosley's plans for a £40m budget cap but today's the deadline and so far no agreement. There could still be a deal of course, possibly involving Mosley being rudely defenestrated by Formula One ringmaster Bernie Ecclestone, but mighty mouse Bernie doesn't seem to be the force he was. If the likes of Ferrari, Brawn, McLaren and Renault do hit the road it will be good news for Silverstone, host of the British Grand Prix this season but due to lose out to Donnington Park next, although there's absolutely no chance the planned new arena there will be funded let alone finished in time. So Silverstone will be almost certain to get its breakaway race.
