The Police Federation, the coppers’ trade union, says it needs 2000 more officers to deal with the rising tide of property crime, burglaries boosted by the recession.
These are indeed going up although such crimes have fallen dramatically since the early 1990s, long before police numbers were boosted by Labour to their current levels.
The reason is probably more to do with initiatives like Neighbourhood Watch schemes and many more burglar alarms than anything the police have done.
Because it’s a fact that, if you get burgled, the police will probably just provide you with an insurance number after sending you a text.
Are they really saying these 2000 extra cops will be put on the beat?

This blog is just awful. Why do you bother? If you use “probably” twice in such a short article it’s a sure sign you don’t know what you’re talking about and have nothing to add to the subject. How the hell did this get listed on Google News?
