It’s amazing what a difference the holidays make, particularly if you’re Gordon Brown and you don’t have to turn up to make a fool of yourself at Prime Minister’s Questions.
He’s had a week off and it’s all bad news for the Tories with Julie Kirkbride being defenestrated by her constituents and the obnoxious Bill Cash trying to hang on in the face of evidence that he used Parliamentary expenses for family pocket money.
Meanwhile former Labour minister Elliot Morley, who was actually a very good minister, trying nobly to restrain the fishing lobby with no help from Number 10, is standing down over wrongfully-claimed mortgage tax interest.
But the Tories can always be guaranteed to provide more exotic fiddles and their old pal the Daily Torygraph is being absolutely merciless in exposing them.
While Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg heckles from the sidelines. Actually Nick ought to cool it a bit as he’s in danger of sounding shrill.
Someone - Sarah Brown? - ought to whisper into Gordie’s ear that he should just stay schtum and leave the Tories to hang themselves.
Will he adopt the appropriate MI policy (masterly inactivity)?
He certainly should, but usually he can’t help himself and wades in with two left feet.

A good week for Brown? Polls today give Labour their lowest rating in over two decades & he is viewed as the most unpopular Labour leader of all time…what is Mr Blatherskite’s idea of a bad week for Brown?
