That’s the dilemma this week as the roundheads of Chelsea play the cavaliers of Barcelona in the second leg of the Champion’s League semi-final.
Last night Barcelona slaughtered Real Madrid 6-2 away, to more or less wrap up the Spanish title. It was also the first time either side in this fixture has scored six goals away from home.
In the first leg a towering Chelsea team nullified Barcelona to gain a goalless away draw, with all sorts of accusations from Spain that their performance was negative (undoubtedly) and dirty (not proven).
But with Manchester United narrow favourites to beat Arsenal in the other semi-final, a re-run of last year’s Champion’s League final looms and most fans, wherever they’re from, won’t want to see that. And they’ll want to see the brilliant Catalans in the final anyway.
And, Mr Blatherskite suspects, most British fans will become honorary Catalans for the night on Tuesday.
Meanwhile spare a thought for Real Madrid manager Juande Ramos. He’s the Spaniard who won the Carling Cup for Spurs and was then sacked as they hardly won a game afterwards.
He was then hired as Madrid’s caretaker manager and, after a couple of early losses, surged up the table to threaten long-time La Liga leaders Barca.
But they went out of the Champion’s League 4-1 in the second leg to Liverpool and shippping six to Barca won’t have endeared him to the notoriously impatient Madrid boardroom.
So it looks like wandering Juande will be on his way again.
