Well OK that’s a touch misleading, but former lap dancer Anna Nobili, 38, has become a nun and is to lead her new dancing troupe in a performance at Rome’s Holy Cross in Jerusalem Basilica before an audience including Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, head of the Vatican’s cultural department and various other Catholic dignitaries.
Sister Nobili says, “They (the church) understand that our hearts belong to Jesus, that mens our moves also show that he is alive and that he is a God of joy, not one of sadness,” and that, “He is a God who dances, not one who stands still.”
Sister Nobili’s theology sounds a touch rickety to Mr Blatherskite, not that he’s an expert.
Jolly lucky for her that the Inquisition, which was still active in the first half of the last century (although it didn’t actually torture people) is keeping a low profile these days.
