On a day when the world seems to have gone mad, with mass shootings at a school in Winnenden, Germany, following the shootings in Alabama yesterday, it may be reassuring to contemplate an outburst of normality. For such is the opening of the new Wellworths store in Dorchester, Dorset, by 34-year old Claire Robertson, a former Woolworths manager there. DJ Chris Evans was along to help, which was nice of him. Claire is going to be selling most of the stuff that Woolies did, plus some new items, but ditching the CDs and videos that helped to get Woolworths into trouble as it supplied supermarkets wholesale, who promptly undercut it. It's also pleasing that Woolies administrators Deloittes, although they were pretty quick to wind up the business, didn't act against Robertson for 'passing off.' No doubt some prat of a lawyer suggested it. There, is that better? Not really.
