Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has made much of his cruelly-interrupted football career, claiming to have played a couple of times for Rangers' first team before injury ended his career. But the News of the World, which 'exposed' Ramsay's affair with serial mistress Sarah Symonds, now claims he did no such thing, appearing just once in an unofficial testimonial game as an anonymous trialist. Even in the chaotic world of football in the 1980s it's surprising that nobody seems able to either remember Ramsay playing for Rangers in any other match or being on the books. Ramsay is quoted by rival chef and former employer (and now bitter rival) Marco Pierre White as telling him,"it just came out of my mouth and seemed a good story at the time." Indeed it was, helping to burnish Gordon's reputation as the effing and blinding man of the people he's since made millions out of. But surely Ramsay could clear this up, one way or the other?

having just read the article”did ramsay fib about his football?”,i have it on some reasonable authority, that you can ask the same question, but in relation to him having worked for Joel Robuchon.an insider told me that, the great chef gordon, who often drops the reference of robuchon into the conversation, did work for him but only for a matter of days ,15 or 16 to be precise ,which to me seems similar to his playing first team football for glasgow rangers
