It's good to see that some people have their priorities right, despite the strains and stresses of the recession. The famous Cheltenham horseracing festival is predicting attendances of more than 200,000 for the four-day event which starts today. And betting 'investments' should total around £300 million (not all of it lifted from the church collection plate by Irish priests on their annual pilgrimage to the festival). Furthermore the event's sponsorship income will be boosted to over £3.5 million by its latest deal with Citroen, which is highlighting its new C3 Picasso by using it to run a VIP shuttle service at the racecourse. Mind you, given the state of the car market these days, Citroen could probably  lend half the racegoers a car for the week and still have some to spare.
