After weeks of hype from the BBC as to who would take over from outgoing David Tennant, including ludicrous suggestions like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Smith seems about as uninteresting as his name.
He’s 26, used to play football (but he’s not the sports presenter) and was head boy of his school in Northampton. And is young and a highly-regarded actor. And, er, that’s it.
Definitely too much hype.
