Another Royal Marine (so far unnamed) has been killed in Afghanistan’s Helmand province, bringing the total of Royal Marine fatalities there to 12 in two months.
Four marines were killed on December 14 in a bomb blast but it’s the drip feed of almost a fatality a day that must be the most disheartening for British forces.
The number of fatalities incurred there is now 138 in seven years and it’s devastatingly clear, just from the Royal Marine deaths, that Helmand is becoming far more dangerous by the week.
Yet still the Army and the Government maintain that UK forces are achieving something, usually ‘providing security.’
It’s not quite clear who is feeling more secure but it certainly won’t be the Royal Marines over there, who, at the moment, appear to be little more than cannon fodder.

fuck off cannon fodder you dick..they re out there doing a good job so dont you dare describe them as “little more than cannon fodder” you fuckin disrespectful arseholes. they re the ones still out there regardless they dont have an option to think, “bollocks lads i cant be doing with this lets go home” even though they are getting killed they re still the best at what they do. if your not behind the british troops, supporting them. feel free to stand in front of them
I agree with ‘Angry Royal’. Do you knowe how disrespectful, hurtfull, ignorent and untrue that comment sounds. Comments like this play straight into the hands of enemy propaganda and as this war is all about grabbing headlines and attention, comments like the one above are almost as damaging to the Marines as any bomb. This is a war, and in war peoplr die. The Royal Marines are soldiers, war is what they do. You could do with researching the facts and news before posting sickening drivel like this again. Whoever postsed that about the marines being cannon fodder, you deserve a good beating.
