Bavarian-born Pope Benedict XV1 has given us all something to talk about at Christmas with a ringing denunciation of homosexuals and transgender-ites, saying their perverted ways could signal “the self-destruction of humanity.”
By this one presumes that he thinks we could all die out if these two preferences become yet more pronounced, but this seems a bit strong, even for someone who’s spent the latter part of his adult life in Italy.
But Benedict, 81 and elected Pope at the age of 78, has succeeded in heating up an old debate and gays, lesbians and others have flooded the airways to describe him as a mad old bird.
Among the ‘more in sorrow than anger’ comments are those from transgender former Italian MP Vladimir Luxuria, now a she, who described his comments as “hurtful.”
But Benedict, noted as much for his Catholic intellectual brain (he’s a former professor) as the fancy footwear he delights in, is not frightened of a bit of opposition.
His views, he says firmly, are not “out of date metaphysics” but an expression of God’s will.
Next year he visits the Holy Land. Will he be as forthright on the equally vexed question of the Israelis and the Palestinians?
As a former member of the Hitler Youth (he had no choice, all German boys were enlisted after 1941), his Middle Eastern visit will be closely monitored, to put it mildly.

The Pope is out of touch with reality as is his church and should no longer be taken seriously. His comments on transgendered individuals is extremely hurtful and completely fails to recognise the medical condition they suffer from since birth.
But when did the church take any notice of the sciences post-enlightenment? The sooner the churches fade away as being out of date and irrelevant to our lives the better we will all be. Then the true teaching of Christ without the corruption of a “middle man”, who has tried to politically control and manipulate mankind for centuries, will at last reach God’s children untainted by an individual human being who believes he is better than the rest of us, passing judgement at will.
May God forgive his sins and ignorance, including being a member of the Hitler Youth with the blood of innocents on his hands that he made no effort to stop as the Catholic Church failed to universally.
The Pope is not, “out of touch,” nor are the 1 billion members of the Catholic Church. The overwhelming majority of people on this planet naturally assume that homosexual acts are an abberation of the natural order.
All of the worlds primary religions, from Judeo-Christian to pagan faiths such as Hinduism and other Asian faiths, look at homosexual behavior as an immoral activity harmful to the individual and the human community.
Just because a homosexual surrounds themslves with like minded people and insulates themselves in a bubble of mentally ill sexual deviants, does not mean that they are some sort of Neo-culture that the rest of us have to obey and respect.
If anyone is out of touch it is the sexual deviant community. Their insanity is undermining the very roots of civilization and culture. In our times we tend to show sympathy to them and tollerate them, but it is going to far to allow the deviants to dominate and define our moral underpinnings. It is no different than voting for a lunatic as the Germans voted for the sexual deviant, Adolf Hitler.
Religion is a mental illness and mentally ill people are not in a position to judge what’s moral and what isn’t.
