Well there go Mr Blatherskite's chances of ever making it as a film producer. Mama Mia!, which he had the effrontery to criticise (and still thinks is rubbish) has broken the UK film box office record with takings of £69.05m, inching ahead of Titanic's previous best of £69.03m. So far it has taken $570m worldwide, not a bad return for Universal (and the producers who include Tom Hanks I believe) for an original investment of £28m. It seems almost certain then that Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Julie Walters (the most annoying of the lot in the film) et al will be back with us afore too long. Think Mr B will give the sequel a miss.
