Hollyscoop names ‘train wrecks of the year’

And it’s a case of line up the usual suspects as the list is led by troubled chanteuse Amy Winehouse, followed by Hollywood wild children Lindsay Lohan and Tara Reid.

But do you have to be a ‘train wreck’ to get written about? Does your expensive coke-snorting publicist say that you have to fall out of bars, attack photographers and claim you’re a lesbian to get noticed these days?

Pamela Anderson creeps in to the bottom of the list and, even past 40, Pammy does her best to behave badly when the clippings are drying up, even if most of what she exposes ‘by accident’ is cellulite.

It’s not such a wild assumption, Hollywood’s spin kings and queens have been foisting their version of reality on us for decades.

Back in the 1940s and 50s it was persuading us all that the likes of Rock Hudson and Van Johnson (a big star in the 1940s, who died this week) were heterosexual hunks whereas they were anything but, especially Johnson.

Still there’s still some commonsense around.

Mr Blatherskite’s favourite person in the whole entertainment world Tina Fey won Associated Press’s Entertainer of the Year bauble.

Next came the oft-rehabbed Robert Downey Jnr and then the late Heath Ledger.

So maybe it’s not that sensible after all?
