Disaster - Mama Mia! breaks DVD record

Mr Blatherskite’s least-favourite film Mama Mia! has broken the UK’s record for DVD sales by selling nearly 1.7m copies on the first day of its release this week.

This ghastly film has already taken £66m at the UK box office, placing it second behind the almost equally ghastly Titanic.

According to a report by the BBC anyway but Mr B just hopes it isn’t true.

Mama Mia (let’s drop the exclamation mark for now) is a bit like like sitting through a karaoke evening with your in-laws; embarrassing, disjointed and not very funny.

The prospect of 1.7m British families sitting down to watch this tosh after their Christmas lunch is just too horrifying to contemplate.

Looks like another heavy evening for Accident and Emergency.

All opinions talk more of the giver than of the object of the opinion.

When such a statement is given in the first person, the comment is more valid. Saying, “I think Mamma Mia is a bad movie,” is more agreeable than the blanket generalization, “Mamma Mia is a bad movie.”

I think the writer of the latter lacks sense of humour, as I believe the film is extremely funny and entertaining, as do millions of other people.
