Led Zeppelin are crap says Cream’s Jack Bruce

Boys, boys!

Legendary Cream bass guitar player Jack Bruce has lambasted old rivals Led Zeppelin as ‘crap’ and even the band’s equally legendary lead guitarist Jimmy Page as ‘crap’ too as the Zeps prepare to tour again, without nearly as legendary singer Robert Plant.

Cream, who toured extensively in 2005 as opposed to the Zeps’ one gig (with Plant) at the O2 last year (where a million people are said to have applied for 9000 pairs of tickets) can make a case for being the best of the first wave of so-called supergroups who enjoyed a brief sojourn in the sun in the late 1960s and early ’70s, but you’d think these old rockers would stick together.

Oh well, as another guitar legend Peter Green once put it.

By the way and confusingly, the pic in the link above features Cream’s Eric Clapton, although it may be Jimmy Page lurking in the corner. So they used to be mates.

Cream was a very good band. Led Zeppelin exceeded Cream in every way imaginable and went on to become arguably the greatest band in rock history. I’m sure Bruce’s childish pettiness and jealously has been an embarrassment to his former bandmates Clapton and Baker. Slamming Led Zeppelin makes the whole band (Cream) look ridiculous and I’m sure a class act like Clapton would love to muzzle Bruce.

Well now, Cream kicked this whole Heavy Metal thing off, along with Hendrix, with those rows of Marshall stacks. Led Zeppelin were an off shoot of Cream as were Black Sabbath. Of course members of Cream will deny this truth. Sound like Jack Bruce had a bad hair day. Besides, Ginger Baker apparently will have nothing to do with any further Cream reunions or Jack Bruce.
