Clearly not, but 30-something actress Charlize Theron has been made a United Nations Messenger for Peace all the same.
According to UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon Charlize, from South Africa, has deployed her “voice, compassion and special relationship with the public to create a better world.” Among her duties will be trying to improve the situation of women.
In doing so she will join actors George Clooney and Michael Douglas, both good eggs no doubt. But can these thespians really make a political difference or are they just there to add a bit of charisma to global knees-ups?
You can imagine the scramble to sit next to Charlize at dinner. France’s Nic Sarkozy is probably already concocting his first invitation to the Elysee Palace.
