Jonathan Ross in part made his name compering the British Comedy Awards and this year, even though he's pulled out of the compering job after the Sachsgate saga, he's still been nominated for one for his (currently suspended) Friday night chat show. As has fellow partner in crime Russell Brand, presumably for his now defunct Radio 2 programme. Awards have a habit of causing extreme embarrassment, imagine Tory shadow chancellor George Osborne's feelings as he presented a gong to Peter Mandelson at the Spectator's recent Parliamentary beanfeast. Will Ross and Brand turn up? If they do they'll be greeted with riotous applause by all their comedy mates, leading to yet more fulminating in the popular prints. Will the show be pulled? Or the results fiddled to ensure they don't win? Either way broadcaster ITV and the organisers certainly can't.
