Or is it the Osborne yacht saga? No, today it seems that Lord (Peter) Mandelson of the two counties is back in the frame. According to the Daily Mail one of Peter Mandelson's enthusiasms as trade commissioner was the integration of the tiny state of Montenegro into the European Union. Well all sorts of dodgy regimes are part of the EU these days (Montenegro's main business is smuggling apparently) so why the fuss? Because our old friends financier Nat Rothschild and aluminium tycoon Oleg Deripaska are big investors in a plan to turn a bay at Tivat in Montenegro into a kind of Balkan Monte Carlo, a rival venue for the super rich and their bloody yachts. So was Peter, in his role as EU trade commissioner, doing his mates another favour? And is this why Rothschild (who now says he wants to drop the matter) turned on his old friend Tory shadow chancellor George Osborne to support Mandelson in the debate over who said what to Oleg? All may be revealed at some stage as Mandelson is coming under fierce pressure to give a full account of his dealings with the deadly duo. This is obviously dangerous for him, regardless of what actually went on, if he's tempted to leave any of it out. Makes you wonder how we managed in politics without Mandelson to liven things up.

This is obviously dangerous for him, regardless of what actually went on, if he’s tempted to leave any of it out.
