In the last US presidential election (or maybe the one before, anyway they did it) the Guardian newspaper emailed lots of Americans saying why they should vote for the Democrats, and not George Bush.
Americans responded in the robust way for which they are rightly famous and the Guardian’s recommendations did the Democrats no good whatsoever.
Mr Blatherskite fully accepts that Americans are more than capable of making their own minds up. You’re better democrats (lower case) than we are.
But here’s possibly the most famous/notorious ad from the campaign, by McCain.
McCain’s a good guy but this doesn’t do him justice and maybe shows the weakness of the Republican case.
