New England football manager Fabio Capello is being investigated by the Italian tax authorities as part of a probe into one of his former clubs, Juventus.
The English Football Association, his employer, says it’s known about this for ages and it’s nothing to worry about.
Fabio and his lawyer son say it’s all a misunderstanding.
And no doubt it is.
We all know the Italians pay their taxes like good ‘uns and the popularity of northern Italy is nothing to do with its proximity to Switzerland.
As a high earner (the FA generously pays him £6m a year) Fabio will take the best advice on the management of his finances.
No doubt messrs Ernst and Olivetti will sort this one out double quick.
That’s a relief then.
